The best restaurants with a view in Montreal that’ll take your breath away
Apart from good service and delicious meals, the mark of a great restaurant is a good location. Who wants to dine at a venue that overlooks a gloomy landscape? Not me!
So, I picked only the best restaurants with a stunning view to take you on a journey. Some spots here give you stunning cityscape views, while others overlook the historic Lachine Canal.
And whether you like refined meals or more laid-back favourites, I have them all here!

Bivouac offers a front-row seat to Montreal’s cultural district overlooking Place des Arts and Quartier des Spectacles. The panoramic view is stunning on summer evenings, perfect for a relaxed dinner with friends.
Their menu is ideal for those who love local flavours. Patrons love the Boreal toast, with its basil pesto and fresh cherry tomatoes. But if you’re sharing, you’ll appreciate the mackerel and rich risotto more.
Their drinks also genuinely deserve the spotlight. Their artisanal bar crafts custom cocktails tailored to your preferences. You can enjoy your drink alongside the restaurant’s $1 oyster specials for a light and satisfying meal during lunch.

Portus 360 offers a full 360-degree rotating view of the city. The restaurant moves gradually, completing a full rotation in about two hours. This gives you plenty of time to relax and enjoy the stunning scenery.
Their menu showcases Portuguese-inspired dishes. Highlights include the creamy seafood rice and grilled octopus, alongside their expertly curated Portuguese wines.
However, the place fills up quickly, and parking can be challenging. I recommend arriving early to secure a spot.

Villa Elina is the place to go if you’re seeking delicious food with a stunning lakefront view. You’ll see the sun’s reflection on the water in the afternoon or early morning. This gives off a peaceful vibe that’s hard to find elsewhere.
If you’re planning to visit, don’t miss their Sunday brunch. You can enjoy options like lamb, delectable sea bass, and expertly crafted mimosas. It’s a three-course affair that’s enough to keep you full the whole day.
I highly recommend the prosciutto pizza, Caesar salad, and cannolo for dinner. They pair well, and the serene atmosphere makes the experience even more enjoyable.

Sitting by the picturesque Lachine Canal, Taormina Lounge offers a lush dining experience ideal for a date. The service here is impeccable, too. You really get to enjoy an elevated food journey.
The menu focuses on both Italian cuisine and Mediterranean dishes. You can get their mussels in tomato sauce if you don’t know where to start. This one is served with a generous portion of fresh rolls, so it’s quickly filling.
You can choose their seafood linguini for the main course and have a nice glass of wine. The lemon cake is a must-have for dessert, especially if you want a nice balance of sweet and tart.
5. Terrasse Belvu Hors piste

Terrasse Belvu Hors Piste is a rooftop terrace known for its stunning city panoramas. The view stretches up Peel Street towards the city business district. It’s even perfect during the winter as there are heaters in the area for cooler days.
Their food is generally hearty. One of my favourites is their Wagyu burger, which is juicy and loaded with gourmet toppings. Together with crispy truffle fries, it’s a simple meal that’s elevated to ensure an upscale feel.
Their drinks are fantastic, too. The blossom cocktail is sweet, while the Bel’Vibe is refreshing and savoury. And yes, the cocktails pack a punch.
But if you prefer wine, I recommend asking for suggestions. They have an extensive collection to choose from.
6. Sabrosa

Sabrosa is the perfect place to soak up the energy of Place Jacques Cartier. Their spacious terrace lets diners enjoy the busy pedestrian area and watch people go by.
The foods are solid and are just right with their unassuming theme. One of my favourites is their tomato salad. However, most patrons would recommend their birria or vegan tacos for newcomers.
While portions aren’t massive, it’s easy for two people to order a few plates to have a filling meal. And if you order just right, you may not even spend over $80 in total.
For drinks, you’ll be impressed by their fantastic wine list. It’s a standout feature, especially for a restaurant in such a tourist-heavy area.
7. Crescendo

Website: https://www.restaurantcrescendo.ca/

Crescendo is the perfect spot if you’re looking for a waterfront dining experience in Verdun. Its terrace offers a serene river view, ideal for brunch or dinner with family or friends.
However, their terrace fills up quickly in summer. Making a reservation is a smart move to ensure you get the best seats.
Their brunch options are a hit, especially with freshly brewed coffee. The golden brioche and Caesar salad are worth a try for brunch lovers. However, the quality can sometimes be inconsistent.
Portions are also generous, making each dish feel worth the price. You’ll leave with a full stomach and a well-delivered sense of value.
8. Terrasse William Gray

Terrasse William Gray is a rooftop dining experience in Old Montreal. When you step onto the terrace, you’ll see stunning views of Place Jacques-Cartier, the St. Lawrence River, and the iconic Montreal Ferris Wheel.
One of their highlights is the heated plastic domes available during winter. Seating four to eight people, they provide a unique dining experience where you can enjoy stunning views, even in the cold.
The food here is equally impressive. I once ordered the chicken with waffles and chorizo with poached eggs during brunch. Even though the presentation was simple, the packed flavour made up for it.
You can even pair it with a cappuccino or latte. Trust me, it will complete your day.
9. Pasta Andrea

Address: 1718 Bd Saint-Joseph
Contact Details: +1 514-634-3400

Want a taste of Europe? Pasta Andrea is this charming Italian spot perched along the historic Lachine Canal. An outdoor terrasse makes it an awesome place to enjoy waterfront views for a sunny lunch or a relaxing dinner.
While portions lean on the smaller side, the quality and flavours are hard to beat. The Quattro Formaggi pasta is rich and creamy, and the Margherita pizza has just the right touch of basil. Many patrons also suggest getting the salmone ai Carciofi with penne.
Pasta Andrea also offers excellent value, especially its reasonably priced lunch meals. You can even score a pint of beer or a glass of wine here for just $5!
10. Le 9e – Restaurant Ile de France

Located in the city’s heart, Le 9e puts you in the best position to experience Montreal views. Even the inside is a view on its own, with the decor transporting you to the Art Deco era.
The food is more on French-inspired dishes. The menu features various options, including shared starters and platters for bigger groups. Plus, they have prepared seafood platters at the bar that you shouldn’t miss.
The restaurant also boasts a wine list with selections that complement their dishes. They’ll happily recommend one if you’re unsure what to get.
11. Rose Orange Terrace
Media credit roseorangemontreal
Website: http://www.roseorange.ca/
Address: 1 Pl. Ville-Marie
Operating Hours: Monday – Saturday: 4:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Price: $$
With sweeping views of Montreal from the 44th floor of Place Ville Marie, Rose Orange Terrace is hard to beat. The city views and vibrant sky colours enhance the chic ambience at sunset.
Their drinks are everyone’s fave. They have options like a watermelon cucumber rum, perfect for a warm evening. At $39 for a pitcher, it’s a great value considering you can easily share it with your company.
But if you want to enjoy a lively atmosphere, it’s best to come around 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The loud music during peak hours boosts the vibe but can hinder conversations. If you’re looking for a quiet moment, arriving early or after 8:00 PM is best.
12. Les Enfants Terribles

Les Enfants Terribles is located on the 44th floor of Place Ville Marie. This gives you some of the city’s best panoramic views. You can even spot Montreal’s iconic landmarks like Mount Royal and the downtown skyline.
As for the food, the menu focuses on French and Canadian-inspired dishes. The poutine is a favourite. It’s exactly like the one you’ll find at beloved stops.
While the food is good, it’s not as memorable as other top-tier dining spots in Montreal. You may want to order a simple meal with a drink here. We also recommend scoring a place near the windows to make up for it.
13. Il Fornetto Restaurant
Media credit ilfornettorestaurant
Website: http://www.ilfornetto.com/
Address:1900 Bd Saint-Joseph, Lachine
Contact Details: +1 514-637-5253
Operating Hours: Monday – Sunday: 11:30 AM – 9:30 PM
Price: $$$
Il Fornetto Restaurant’s waterfront view of the Lachine Canal is perfect for a quiet afternoon date. The views are stunning indoors or on the terrace, especially in autumn.
Their menu is equally impressive as the views. On a recent visit, I had the pizza Affumicata with smoked salmon, and it was a hit! The smoky salmon and fresh ingredients really blended.
As with the case with other restaurants near the canal, parking can be tricky. Either arrive early or take public transport to secure your spot.
