12 best bubble teas in Montreal that are just too good to share

They say people are 70% water. I think at this point, I’m 70% boba. The creamy base is addictive, and well-cooked pearls keep you chewing non-stop!

If you’re anything like me and have bubble tea running through your veins, you’ll love this list. From signature shop names to more specialised bubble tea joints, I have it all here for you.

Never run out of boba places anymore – just take a dive into this list!

When I think of bubble tea in Montreal, Nos Thés is the first place that comes to mind. Their signature pearl tea is a must-try. It has chewy honey-flavoured boba that complements the creamy milk teas.

This is the place to be if you’re into authentic Taiwanese bubble experience. The menu offers an incredible range of flavours, from classic taro to the spiced notes of masala chai.

But what makes them stand out is their lightning-fast service. My taro cream tea was ready within minutes! Even during busy dinner hours, the wait times are impressively short.

2. Yi Fang Taiwan Fruit Tea

Yi Fang Taiwan Fruit Tea is the place to go if you love shops that use fresh, organic ingredients and traditional Taiwanese brewing techniques. The best part is you don’t have to spend much on it!

One highlight is their tapioca pearls. It’s soft, chewy, and sweet without being overwhelming. Unlike places where the pearls can feel stale or overly tough, Yi Fang’s are always just the right texture.

If you’re a fan of variety, Yi Fang’s menu offers a range of unique flavours. Their signature fruit tea is made from real fruit. I still go for their popular brown sugar boba because you can’t go wrong with the classics.

3. One Babo

If you’re getting your boba at One Babo, might as well enjoy it in their spacious cafe with all these cool artistic wall designs. While service can be a bit slow during busy times, the ambience makes it easy to cool down and kill time.

Their creative and extensive bubble tea menu features classics like Hokkaido milk tea and unique options like strawberry green tea with coconut jelly. They even have an impressive variety of teas from Taiwan, China, and Sri Lanka.

They also have vegan, gluten-free, and lactose-free options that everyone can find something to love. Value for money is something to note, too. You can get a drink in large sizes that start at just $8.

4. Shuyi Tealicious

Address: 51A Rue De la Gauchetière

Contact Details: +1 514-663-1127

Operating Hours: Monday – Sunday: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM

Price: $$

Shuyi Tealicious in Montreal’s Chinatown is an unassuming gem, offering what many locals call the best bubble tea. It’s a pick-up-only spot with a walk-up window for a quick grab-and-go experience.

If you’re a fan of traditional milk tea, their signature grass jelly milk tea is a must-try. But brown sugar taro tea is the better option for something more indulgent.

The best part? The tea isn’t overly sweet, so you can taste the quality of the ingredients.

Shuyi Tealicious often runs fun promotions. It includes half-price on your second drink during the holidays. It varies depending on events or holidays, so we recommend following their socials to keep up with amazing discounts.

5. Boba Boba

Address: 994 Rue Ottawa

Contact Details:  +1 514-397-0263

Price: $

Boba Boba isn’t your typical milk tea stop. Forget the usual flavours like taro peach and green tea – here, you’ll find unique blends that feel more like crafted cocktails than your typical bubble tea.

During my visit, I tried the Leo fraise. The tapioca pearls were chewy too, which made them more enjoyable to drink.

Even better, the names of their drinks mirror cocktail culture. It makes things a little more fun.

Another great thing about Boba Boba is its Instagrammable aesthetic. The interior is sleek and trendy, with a modern design that I’m sure every youngster will love. They also play great hip-hop music, so you won’t get bored while enjoying their space.

While I enjoyed most of the options, some fruit teas tend to have a slightly medicinal taste. It was a dealbreaker for me, so I suggest asking for recommendations to get more on the sweet side.

6. The Alley

The Alley is a must-visit for anyone who loves high-quality bubble tea. Known for their signature brown sugar Deerioca, their freshly prepared tapioca pearls are the show’s star.

These sweet pearls are made from scratch daily. It gives them a chewy texture but almost melts in your mouth with how soft they are.

One of my favourite drinks here is the Deerioca puff. The creamy milk and brown sugar flavour create a smooth texture.

But if you’re into more adventurous flavours, they also offer this crunchy tiramisu milk tea. This one combines the richness of tiramisu with the satisfying crunch of tapioca pearls.

7. Chatime

Address: 52C Rue De la Gauchetière O

Contact Details: +1 514-431-8388

Price: $

If you’re ever craving bubble tea at an odd hour, this 24/7 Chinatown spot has you covered! Chatime is known for their customisable drinks that let you control sugar and ice levels to get your order right.

I tried their brown sugar bubble tea with oat milk. The level of creaminess was just right, and it’s not overly sweet either! Plus, they offer multiple milk options to suit dietary preferences.

One thing to note is that this spot isn’t about aesthetics. The small setup has outdoor ordering with no cosy seating.

But what they lack in atmosphere, they make up for in flavour and efficiency. Orders are prepared lightning-fast!

8. Maison O Thé

Website: http://www.maisonothe.com/

Address: 5317 Chem. Queen Mary

Contact Details: +1 514-237-1466

Operating Hours: Monday – Sunday: 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Price: $

Maison O Thé is the go-to spot for those who are particular about the texture of their drinks. The tapioca pearls here are next-level – always served warm, soft, and in just the right amount.

Even hours later, the pearls maintain their texture. You can fridge the boba and have it for later!

My go-to order here is the taro milk tea with tapioca. The portions are generous, and I never upgrade beyond a small size.

If you love the classics, their Hokkaido and Okinawa milk teas are the best options. The taste and texture aren’t out of this world but perfect for that traditional boba taste. But the variety doesn’t stop there – matcha and yoghurt teas are also available.

9. Thé Bora

Operating Hours: Monday – Wednesday: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM | Thursday – Saturday: 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM | Sunday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Thé Bora on Monkland Avenue is more than just a bubble tea shop. It’s the place to go if you also want a feat for the eyes. The shop has adorable trinkets and kawaii objects that elevate the experience.

You can browse the charming selection of toys and stickers while sipping a strawberry milk tea or a creamy taro drink.

However, it’s good to be aware of a few quirks. Customisations like reducing ice or boba could come with additional charges.

Regardless, wait times are usually not long. It’s a nice way to spend time and take some Instagrammable shots.

L2 Bubble Tea has become a staple for local bubble tea lovers. Located right in front of a metro station, it’s easy to swing by and grab a drink on the go.

The menu varies, from classic milk teas to fruitier options like lime green tea or grapefruit green tea. They nail the topping-to-tea ratio for balance without overpowering the drink.

What’s nice here is that drinks are easy to customise. You can build your bubble tea exactly how you like it – choose your base, flavour, and toppings. You must also ask the staff whether you want soy milk or fewer toppings.

12. Presotea

Operating Hours: Monday – Thursday, Sunday: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM | Friday-Saturday: 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM

Presotea is my go-to spot whenever I want something unique. The variety here is unbeatable, from classic taro to their special cheese cloud series. This features tropical flavours like mango and dragon fruit – all I enjoyed!

You can customise nearly everything too. For brown sugar lattes, try oat or lactose-free milk. Plus, the portions are generous enough to keep it the whole day.

While Presotea gets busy, the service remains fast. If you want to skip the line, you can order online and pick up your drink hassle-free.
